After an intensive weekend of competition at the BTC Championships, Amity Taekwon-Do students focused on the self defence side of the martial art.
We looked at how to create openings for counter attacks using our blocks whilst also practising the various step sparring elements within Taekwon-Do including model sparring (slow motion attack and defence first to practice correct attacking and blocking posture) and foot sparring (attacking and defending with the feet only).
In addition to this we also broke down various kicking techniques, including side piercing kick, front snap kick, turning kick and reverse turning kick.
In the coming weeks we will be focusing more on fitness, patterns and tactical sparring sessions due to the upcoming tournaments that Amity Students will be attending (LBTKD Interclub 5th October, UK ITF National Championships 12th October).
